Mr Griffin,

The only candidate for the post of

Analyst that I can produce possessing the scientific qualifications asked for is C.L.Claremort (3598/13). Personally he made only a fair impression on Dr

Dobbie and myself he did not strike us as being possessed of much energy and vigour. A much stronger candidate personally is T.Wright (3601/13), but he unfortunately qualified for the A.I.8.in organic chemistry (Branch D) and not in Food and Drugs (Branch ). I suppose that the latter is a sine qua non; otherwise I would much prefer to submit

Mr Wright. He lacks the practical experience of Claremont, but he took first class honours in the final London B.Sc.Exam. and I am sure is much the stronger both as regards brain and character. H.F.B.

Mr Batterbee,

It is unlucky; but Branch D clearly bars

Mr Wright, and I'm afraid you must decline on

Claremont.

Mr Harcourt.
